Protecting African and Caribbean people with a mental health illness
It has long been acknowledged that many African Caribbean people, within the mental health system do not have access to psychological therapies; and it was against this background that in January 2008, the service recruited a homeopathic, holistic counselling and therapeutic practitioner who was very proactive in promoting the service to Omari service users, carers, health care professionals e.g. social workers, CPN’s etc.
Providing holistic and culturally appropriate support for our members
The Service aims to provide a range of holistic and culturally appropriate interventions aimed at assisting members to come to terms with their mental health diagnosis and, to provide a primary care service with the aim to promote psychological well-being and enable individuals to learn essential skills and knowledge in order to manage their distress independently.
