ACCI & Lloyds Unite for Black History

ACCI Joins Lloyds Banking Group for Black History Month Celebrations

In a powerful display of community spirit and collaboration, the African Caribbean Community Initiative (ACCI) was invited to join Lloyds Banking Group at their offices for a special event celebrating Black History Month. Hosted by Lloyds’ BOLD network, the gathering highlighted the remarkable contributions of African and Caribbean people in the UK, while also offering a platform to address key issues affecting these communities.

The event provided a significant opportunity for our charity to  share its impactful work in supporting African and Caribbean individuals who are dealing with mental health challenges. For over three decades, the ACCI charity has been a pillar of hope for people in Wolverhampton  facing mental health struggles, offering tailored support, advocacy, and cultural understanding to help improve their lives. Our services include everything from emotional wellbeing programs and holistic therapy to housing support.

The Black History Month celebration was attended by Lloyds Banking Group employees, and representatives from ACCI, who were eager to raise awareness of mental health issues that disproportionately affect the African and Caribbean community. Lloyds Banking Group’s employees also had the opportunity to engage in discussions on diversity and mental health, learning how they can contribute to the ongoing efforts to address these disparities.

“It’s truly an honour to be invited to this event. Black History Month is not just a time to celebrate our culture and heritage, but also to reflect on the challenges we face, especially around mental health. We are grateful to Lloyds and the BOLD network for giving us this platform to highlight the urgent work that still needs to be done.”

CEO

The celebration concluded with a strong call to action, urging attendees to take part in mental health advocacy, support charities like ours, and work collectively to dismantle the stigma around mental health.

As Black History Month continues, we look forward to building on this momentum, ensuring that the needs of the African and Caribbean communities are met with compassion, understanding, and tangible action.
