Congratulations to Sir Patrick Vernon, An ACCI Patron

The African Caribbean Community Initiative (ACCI) is proud to congratulate Sir Patrick Vernon on being awarded a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours, a fitting recognition of his exceptional contribution to racial equality, health equity and social justice.

A proud Wolverhampton native, Sir Patrick has spent more than 30 years championing causes that have transformed lives and strengthened communities across the UK. His tireless advocacy has helped bring issues of inequality, inclusion and representation to the forefront of national debate. Among his many achievements, he successfully led the campaign to establish Windrush Day, ensuring that the invaluable contributions of Caribbean migrants and their descendants are formally recognised and celebrated across the nation.

Throughout his distinguished career, Sir Patrick has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to creating a fairer and more inclusive society. He has consistently worked to amplify the voices of marginalised communities, helping to influence policy and drive meaningful change at local, regional and national levels.

Building Partnerships

A defining feature of Sir Patrick’s leadership has been his ability to build strong partnerships across multiple sectors. By bringing together community organisations, public services, healthcare professionals, policymakers and grassroots campaigners, he has championed collaborative approaches to addressing some of society’s most pressing challenges. This commitment to partnership working has played a pivotal role in advancing conversations and action around health inequalities, mental health, migration, community empowerment and social justice.

As a Patron of ACCI, Sir Patrick has been a passionate advocate and valued supporter of our charity. His guidance, encouragement and dedication to improving outcomes for Black communities have been a source of inspiration to our staff, trustees and Members alike. We are immensely proud to have him associated with ACCI and honoured that he continues to represent and support our work as one of the country’s most respected voices for equality and social justice.
